On Day 31 of its release, Pushpa 2: The Rule has amassed an impressive domestic box office collection of ₹1199 crore. With the end of its fifth weekend approaching, it is anticipated that the film will become part of the exclusive ₹1200 crore domestic club.
Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2 to enter Rs 1200 cr club
Now well into its fifth week, Pushpa 2 continues to generate substantial revenue, despite facing stiff competition from films in various languages. However, it seems the Allu Arjun-led blockbuster is showing signs of a slowdown, as the collections dipped below the ₹5 crore mark for the first time on the fifth Friday. The film rebounded slightly with ₹5.5 crore on Saturday, but this downward trend may indicate challenges ahead, especially with the upcoming Sankranti and Pongal releases in the Telugu and Tamil film industries, respectively.
Starting the New Year on a high note, Pushpa 2 swiftly joined the elite ₹1800 crore club, sharing this honour only with Aamir Khan’s Dangal. Much like its protagonist’s takeover of the syndicate in the film, Pushpa 2 has seized control of the domestic box office, surpassing Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which held the record for seven years. Now, Pushpa 2 stands as the benchmark for Indian films aspiring to reach new financial heights.
While an array of festive releases looms and Marco, featuring Unni Mukundan, has gained popularity with Hindi audiences, the future isn’t bleak for Pushpa 2. Interestingly, Marco has seen its Hindi collections outpace the Malayalam version in its third week, but there are no major Hindi films on the horizon that may affect Pushpa 2. This creates an opportunity for other dubbed films, like Ram Charan’s Game Changer, to cater to the Hindi audience. If the new releases struggle, the familiarity of Pushpa may appeal to viewers.
Pushpa 2’s domestic box office collection
With an astounding collection of approximately ₹1199 crore, Pushpa 2 is on the brink of solidifying its place in cinematic history as it approaches the ₹1200 crore domestic mark. This remarkable journey continues for the film, which also features Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil. Nonetheless, the Telugu box office may see a decline below ₹1 crore once the Sankranti releases come into play, although the Hindi version is likely to remain robust.
